Dogs come in all different shapes in sizes and nobody likes to order a new outfit only to find out it doesn’t fit. Follow these easy steps to properly size your dog.
First, find a fabric or cloth measuring tape. If you don’t have one you can also use a long piece of string and a ruler or tape measurer. If using string, you’ll need to carefully mark each measurement on the string and then use the ruler or tape measurer to determine the length.
Next, measure the neck, chest and length of your dog. With each measurement always leave a little extra room for a comfortable fit. Be sure to write down each measurement so you don’t forget.
- Neck: measure around your dog’s neck where the collar normally sits.
- Chest: measure all the way around the widest point of your dog’s chest. This is typically just behind the front legs. For dogs with a wide chest go with the larger size if they are in between or close on sizes.
- Length: measure from the collar to the base of the tail.
While neck and length are important, the chest measurement can cause the most issues so be sure to double check that one.
As you’ll see on our product pages, the sizing is not standard across all types of apparel. For example, the measurements for a large sweater might be slightly different from that of a large t-shirt due to the intended fit and construct of the design. Please refer to the size chart in the product description of each item before choosing your size.
Hopefully this helps with your future purchases. As always, don’t hesitate to reach out with questions or suggestions of how we can improve.
